The Cry of the Orphans
By Paul Myhill, President of World Orphans

Why this suffering?
Restless on a frigid bed of concrete
Slave to the streets; slave to despair
Plagued by abuse and exploitation
Worthless…Fatherless and abandoned

Why this torment?
Malady ravaged and stole my parents
Struggling to eat; struggling to survive
Overwhelmed by grief and doubt
Worthless…Fatherless and abandoned

Why this horror?
The machete blade seized my family
Anger over tribe; anger over frailty
Handed over to loneliness and fear
Worthless…Fatherless and abandoned

Why this anguish?
Left at the curb for being a daughter
Hungering for food; hungering for love
Discarded by system and culture
Worthless…Fatherless and abandoned

Why this disgrace?
Forced to give my body to hardened hearts

Ashamed of myself; ashamed of living

Trampled by men and country
Worthless…Fatherless and abandoned

Why this terror?
Pressed into killing others of youth

Marching for blood; marching for vengeance

Hated by all and self
Worthless…Fatherless and abandoned

Do not be troubled, My children
I will never leave you as orphans
Find shelter in Me…I alone am Worthy
Turn to Me…I alone am your Father
Trust in Me…I alone will never abandon you
Run to Me…I will cradle you in paradise
