Two of my children, Faith and Caleb, made Mother’s Day cards at their school, Cherry Hills Christian.
Faith’s card is comprised of ten panels. Each panel has a sentence or question that she has to finish or answer. Above each completed statement is a related drawing that she carefully produced for her mommy.
Here are a couple of the fragments, made whole with Faith’s responses:
Fragment: My mom loves me because…
Faith’s Answer: I love her.
Fragment: My mom is special because…
Faith’s Answer: She loves me back.
Not to be left out, daddies got cards from some of the children also.
Fragment: I know Daddy loves me because…
Caleb’s Answer: He just loves me.
I looked at all the answers. As a proud daddy, I was drawn to the obvious passage in Scripture:
"We love because he first loved us." (1 John 4:19, NIV)
Children just get it.
Why don’t we?
