The child in the picture has a name. But to the world around her, she is nameless. She has the dubious distinction of being a child of a street child – twice removed from the ‘respectable’ of society; twice distanced from opportunity.
But she’s also a child that is receiving help from a church that has stepped in and responded to the call of obedience. She and her mother are both involved in the program at Opcion de Vida. She gets clean clothes. She gets fed. She looks like a ‘normal’ child.
She is immensely valuable. She is not just ‘riff-raff’ on the streets.
She has a purpose. She is not a wasted life.
She is not anonymous to God and His Church. She has a name.
